By train
York is ideally situated on the East Coast line – so you can travel easily down from Edinburgh and up from London alike, as well as from Leeds and other mainline stations.
By booking rail tickets several weeks beforehand, you can make some significant savings.

If you’ve not already got a Railcard – there are many available offering up to 50% off travel – it’s worth investigating and you can ask at your local station which the best may be for you:

16 – 25 or  26 – 30

Disabled / Family & Friends / HM Forces / Network

Two Together / Senior

It may be that just joining a railcard scheme for £10 – £30 will save you money even if you use it just the once!

Other ways to save on rail fares include splitting your journey – that is buying separate tickets for each ‘section’ of your journey.

Using a website such as : https://www.splitticketing.com (other similar sites are available) could result in a big saving.

Just follow their route / split recommendations or you can make the same bookings yourself via http://www.nationalrail.co.uk or one of the many other providers.

By coach

All CAMRA members can get 10% of coach travel with National Express. Find out more here.
